I don't know how many people breed without thinking through it first. All I can say is tons of hamsters have been injured or even killed by careless people who decide to breed for no reason whatsoever. I even know one person who bred just because they wanted to see a pregnant hamster. NO. Hamsters are not toys, and they shouldn't even be bred in the first place. The only reason you should breed is if you are going to sell it to a pet store. Even then, it would probably be best not to breed unless you are very experienced with it and are prepared for every little thing that could happen. You need to think of possibilities that could happen. You need to have all the supplies ready for when the pups will be born.
Anything could happen when you are breeding, and you need to be aware of that. You can't just stick a male and female together. There's more to it. You have to know the genetic backgrounds of both the parents.
I suggest you think twice before breeding. It is a very dangerous thing and if one thing goes wrong you could kill all the hamsters.
Thanks!

Great post this is all very true. If you aren't paying attention to the genetic backrounds, the litter , the gender or anything like that you ARE a reckless breeder, and you HAVE performed reckless breeding!
Be careful!!!!
